I started this post by weighing the Facebook pros to the cons, and thoroughly writing about my own opinions to each of those bullet points. I ended up deleting everything thinking each and everyone are entitled to their own opinions, and that you don’t need me to start this lovely Friday by pointing out negative sides about a platform lots and lots of people have come to love. Rather, I will focus on what I initially wanted to talk about – some alternative smaller platforms through which thoughts and ideas, photos, and what not can be shared just as easy, without all the fuzz, spying, virus, annoying games (insert my cons bullet points here…) etc.

Twitter
I have written several posts about Twitter (here, here, here, here, and here. As you can see its a important aspect of my blog-life. Lol.), so why not write another one. I believe everyone reading this knows what Facebook is. Twitter is what Facebook status is; In a few words, tell your “followers” what you are doing, plans, ideas, thoughts, updates etc. Thats it! Its very quick, and minimalistic, exactly what the average working/studying guy with limited time needs. If you don’t have an account, open one now! Of course it’s free. “Twitter for iPhone” is the app iPhone users with an Twitter account want on their phone. Yes, its free.

Instagram
A wonderful, very easy picture-sharing application for iPhones (coming to Android soon) which works very similar to Twitter:
Take a picture, write a short caption, and share! There are many other possibilities as well, like adding geolocation markers to the picture and so on. It is quick and concise, and easy to get into – just like Twitter =) The application for iPhones is free. Read more here.

Bambuser
An interesting newcomer for iPhone users. Have you ever wanted to take some video and share it LIVE with your friends, co-workers, with the world? No? Well me neither, but that might be because I never thought about it. After opening a (free) Bambuser account, and downloading the respective app for my iPhone, it intrigued me. It was kind of cool turning my phone into a live webcam for everybody (or only for those I choose) to see! Open an account here, and download “Bambuser” for iPhone from the AppStore and get started!
